The Noble Neighbor Testimonials

"This year, our third and fourth graders had a transformative experience thanks to The Noble Neighbor. Recently, our district adopted a new English Language Arts curriculum, and while it has many strengths, the topics of each module are not particularly relevant to our predominantly black student population who live in the city limits. Enter The Noble Neighbor! With their support, each of our third and fourth graders received a copy of the New York Times Bestselling Book, Black Boy Joy. Our teachers created special lessons to accompany each of the stories in the collection, and for once, our kids were finally able to read about characters and themes and problems familiar to them! As a gay educator, I was especially moved by our kids opportunities to read stories about queer characters - certainly an experience that would have changed my life as a child. To cap it all off, The Noble Neighbor facilitated a special virtual Q&A with the book's author and our kids were SO eager to submit questions. I know our kids will always remember this experience, and we're so thankful to The Noble Neighbor for making it happen!"

“When children meet the author responsible for their favorite stories, they realize authors are human, too. This powerful experience demystifies the publishing process and helps children realize their own writing and stories matter just as much as the books sitting on their library shelves.”

"Thank you so much for allowing us to host Zetta Elliott. So many students wanted to share their writing with me after listening to Zetta Elliott speak. Most of my students now say that they now see themselves as writers."

"I love that both the Pumphrey brothers were so kind and friendly. They were very patient with the kids and their "questions". They did an awesome job of showing the kids how they did their artwork. It was interesting to hear how they work together on their books."
